The Miami Dolphins defensive backs don’t miss Nick Saban. Wah, wah, wah. Who cares? I mean seriously, I know it’s the offseason, I know it’s only the 2nd mini-camp of the season but do they not have anything else to talk about?
An article in the Miami Herald is reporting that the DBs feel more relaxed now than in the last 2 years under Saban. Cornerback Andre Goodman said, “It’s easier to work without the tension.” Travis Daniels who played under Saban at LSU said, “it’s a ”good” change“.
Still, with such a relaxed atmosphere, you have to wonder, or at least I wonder, if the lack of yelling and needle picking will help make this unit better? Or worse?
Last year the Miami Dolphins secondary was ranked 5th in total yardage given up though the air, however, they all combined for a whopping 5 interceptions. Andre Goodman, who is glad to see the change added “I knew I was prepared last year because of the way Saban prepared us.” So I take that to mean that being prepared means nothing if you’re not relaxed. Lets face it, coaches yell. Shula yelled, Landry yelled, Cowher spit. It’s part of the game.
This offseason has seen it’s share of drama. “I’m not going to be the coach of Alabama.” The hiring of Cam Cameron, the search for the new HC. It goes on and on and on. But this is starting to get a little out of hand. First it is Culpepper sending an email to the media, apparently it wasn’t Daunte the player, but Daunte the agent who sent that out. And, it seems the reason was because as an agent, C-Pepp didn’t like the way he was being treated. Can I get another… Whoopie?
The Dolphins have had seasons of 4-12, 9-7, and 6-10 the last 3 years. Those are not winning seasons. 9-7 you say? Well they watched the playoffs from a recliner the same as the rest of us. Thats a losing season.
It’s time for them all to just shut up and play. Until they actually start to win ball games, the rest is just whining. It’s pointing the finger and making excuses. After all, It’s always easier to blame someone else.
