Is that a gun in your pocket or are you…

The Tampa Bay Bucs were told they were no longer allowed to have “pat-downs” of visitors entering the stadium.  A season ticket holder had filed an injunction last year claiming that his “rights” were being violated by the touchy-feely searches.

The Bucs at the time were told to stop all such searches until further notice.  Further notice has arrived.  The appeals court that the case had been turned over to, has overturned the decision and now, you can have your fanny touched by someone you don’t know, and often times don’t want to know.

According to the Associated Press, “High school teacher Gordon Johnston successfully challenged the frisking of fans entering Raymond James Stadium in three lower courts, but a three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned those rulings Tuesday – saying Johnston forfeited his right to challenge the constitutionality of the pat-downs when he consented to them.”

The Courts also ruled that this guy did not have a constitutional right to attend football games and therefore, knowing that those types of searches occurred, if he felt that it was unconstitutional that he should have just stayed home.

I can’t agree more.  I don’t care about your rights, or that guys rights, or anybody else’s rights.  What I do care about are my rights and the rights of my son and my wife.  “Pat-down” searches may not prevent everything, but they discourage a lot.  My rights, the ones I do care about, are protected a little bit more because that drunk over there has less of a chance getting that weapon into the stadium.

The problem as I see it is not the searches themselves, it’s the people doing them.  Put a hot ass swimsuit model in front of me to do the search, no problem whatsoever.  Put some cut Cali lifeguard in front of my wife, hmmmm, on second thought.

Problem solved.

Excuse me sir, is that a gun in your pocket?”  she would say,

“No Ma’am, I am just damned happy…”  I could start to reply

“Brian, if you want this marriage to continue, you WON’T finish that sentence!”
