No supplements in Phins' diet

The 2007 NFL Supplemental draft is over and the Miami Dolphins have walked away with all of their 2008 picks intact…except of course whatever they give KC for Trent Green.

The Dolphins opted to pass on the 2 names that were in this years Sup’ draft. Jared Gaither of Maryland who went to the Ravens in round 5 and CB Paul Oliver who is now a Charger after being taken in round 4.

This is really not a surprise. The Dolphins last selected a suppleMENTAL pick when they took Manny “Saban made me cry” Wright in round 5 two years ago. Wright is long gone. This type of draft will usually consist of college kids who are either declared academically ineligible or are off the team for conduct violations.

So far, only former NFL super-star and supplemental draft pick Chris Carter is poised for the Hall of Fame.

With new HC Cam Cameron saying that he wants only upstanding players on his roster, it really is not a surprise that the Phins passed on these two.

A total of 10 ex-college players were eligible for this draft. The undrafted 8 will be free agents at the official conclusion of the draft.

Jamal Williams is a pretty damn good player, though. I trust A.J. Smith and Ozzie Newsome. They are both great GMs that made the other 30 look foolish today. Trust me.

I think both of those players have high potential for sure.  Still, last year it was Ahmad Brooks who did nothing his rookie year.  That of course means little as it is often hard for rookies to get acclimated.  Time and time alone will tell on these two.  I think that both teams really didn't overpay for these guys, still, as a Phins fan, we really did not have much to offer in those two rounds and neither were worth the risk…imo…a 1, 2, or 3.  Our 4 and 5 are somewhat tied up in the TG trade.
