The Miami Dolphins lost to the Tampa Bay Bucs’ last night 31-28. I lost reception on my satellite dish this morning at 6 am and by the time that my Tivo reset itself, the game was not recorded. So, I really can’t give you a full synopsis of the game. I can however tell you what I was able to listen to on Sirius radio. Which wasn’t much.
Trent Green started off the same way he has every game this year….slowly. In the first quarter he tossed a nice little swing pass that was intercepted by Cato June on the Dolphins own 3 yard line. June of course took it into the endzone. A familiar site over the last few years as Dolphins QB’s have a tendency to give up INTs’ for TDs’.
He did however recover to lead the Dolphins to two touchdowns. One in the air and one on a “statue of liberty” play.
Cleo Lemon entered the game and could not lead the Phins to any points.
John Beck saw most of the second half and led the Dolphins on two scoring drives for TDs and almost pulled the game out in the end. Beck is showing why the Dolphins brass thought so highly of him this past draft. On a 51 yard TD pass, Beck put the ball between very good 3 man coverage into the arms of PK Sam.
All in all, I would have loved to see how the units worked together. Stats can be so uninformative in pre-season to really give you a good indication of what is going on. Unfortunately I will now have to wait until the replay on Tuesday.
Perhaps the Fins made some process last night. They did after all score 4 TDs and K Feely missed a 54 yard field goal with no time on the clock to close out the first half. It hit the upright.
