The first half is in the bag and so far, different faces same results. With 2 down and 2 to go, here is the 2nd quarter observations and a 1st half recap.
Perhaps the hardest thing to do is to write an objectionable piece about the Miami Dolphins without letting emotion get in the way. I will try.
The second quarter opened with a great defensive stand by the Dolphins with the Skins in the Redzone. They were held to a field goal.
Reagan Mauia almost saved a drive with a nice fumble recovery of a Chatman mistake, but the Skins’ Fred Smoot got a hold of it. The fumble ended a drive that looked better than any of the others. The Skins did nothing with the opportunity.
Jason Taylor has his first sack of the year.
Miami went long to Chambers, but Green just missed on the throw, however, looking at the replay, there was little else Green could have done, it was a rocket throw and had it been lofted a little, Fred Smoot would have knocked it down. It was the nicest incompletion I have seen. It spread the offense a bit.
Brandon Fields seriously shanked a punt.
Both Chambers and Booker have dropped passes that were more than catchable. Chambers made some atonement on the next play when he caught a first down ball.
The Phins ended the first half with a nice drive that ended with a touchdown on 3rd and goal with 4 seconds left. Opting to go for the TD instead of a game tying FG, Cameron has sent a message to his players that he trusts them. Green rolled out to his right and drilled a brilliant bullet into single coverage to the TE, Justin Peelle.
The first half concluded with a score of Miami 7 – Washington 3.
