5 Quarters open the season…Miami headed to Overtime
A full game report will be up tomorrow. In the meantime, here is the 4th quarter high-lights.
Quarter 4 started out right, with an INT of Jason Campbell in the endzone. A personal foul penalty on the play by Jason Taylor, pushed the Miami Dolphins back to their own 10.
Miami managed to move the ball well until TE David Martin decided to play ball like Randy McMichael. He dropped a perfectly thrown pass for a 1st down. He was alone. No excuse for players to drop passes like that. Dan Dierdorf announced that Miami receivers had dropped 5 balls to that point…Great.
On the ensuing punt, Randal-El found a crease and exploited the Miami unspecial teams for a long gain out past their 40. He would have taken it all the way had he bounced out instead of in while trying to get around the last Phin.
The Redskins took the ball down the field to score a field goal and take the lead with just over 5 minutes left to play.
The Dolphins went out and traded for Trent Green, it payed off. Green drove the Dolphins to the Redskins 8 yard line, a holding on Hadnot, and then a horrible intentional grounding penalty on Green while he was standing alone in the pocket sent them back to the 25. Jay Feely would tie the game with just under 2 minutes left to play.
The Skins took the KO to the 30 yard line, Jason Campbell could not move the team and the Dolphins would take over after a punt on their own 24 yard line. Wth exactly 1 minute left, the Dolphins were unable to move the ball. We talk about timing of turnovers, Trent Green through a horrible pass into the arms of CB Fred Smoot who would have given the ball to the Skins at the 30. He dropped it. Brandon Fields on the next play kicked the ball to the Skins 35. With only 12 seconds left. Jason Campbell threw a massive hail mary that was knocked down by Jason Taylor, the ball landed in Antwan Randal - Els’ hands at the 5, but Jason Taylor quickly stopped him at the 2.
WE are going to OVERTIME
