In the latest saga of Weedville on the WB, Miami Dolphins property (not exactly a player these days) is eligible for NFL reinstatement on October 1st, and according to his agent, he is going to apply.
“He sounds wonderful,” Cornwell said. “He sounds like he’s in a great place, and I’m confident that will come through to the commissioner.” His agent said according to a report on CBSportsline. Of course I’m sure that he is a great place, he seems to be in a great place quite often.
The drama that is sure to unfold will be whether Goodell reinstates the RB after a failed drug test in April delayed his reinstatement eligibility by several months. The next question of course will be “will Miami take him back?” or cut him loose. Then it becomes an issue of where he will play if not for Miami and when he will be ready if he does.
This soap opera is one that should have been canceled years ago. Unfortunately, the Ricky Williams ratings are up with fans who want nothing more for the 2002 rushing title leader to return to Miami and run like he did back then, which if I were a betting man, I would put all I own on the fact the he can’t. In fact, I would put all my money on him not being able to stay clean for more than a year.
I personally have grown tired of the show, the arguments, the debates, and the disruption to a team that has gone down hill since his retirement and subsequent failed test suspension. Ricky Williams has become a joke and I for one, regardless of his capability on the field, am done with this experiment. It is time to let him go, let him fly high where ever he wants to. Let some other team deal with his in and out habits.
Come October, I hope that Ricky is reinstated by Goodell. Then Cam Cameron and Randy Mueller can officially part company with him. Should Ricky not be reinstated this year, then we will own the rights to him until he is, and that is another year of drama and bad TV….no thanks!
