There are a lot of Miami Dolphins fans out there, that at this moment are showing the level of class they have, or rather lack there of. Cleo Lemon is in, Trent Green is out as Green lies strapped on a backboard in traction with what initial reports are saying is a severe concussion.
Green sustained the concussion while blocking on a failed end around by Ted Ginn. He went low on number 99 Travis Johnson, of the Texans defensive line and was hit in the side of his head by the lineman’s knee.
Green who immediately fell motionless to the ground did not move for several moments while trainers and emergency personnel tended to him.
Green who many fans know suffered a severe concussion in last years KC opener, missed most of last year due to it. Despite popular opinion among fans and some media, Trent was no more likely to suffer another concussion that any other player on the field. Trent has had only one concussion in his career, and has not suffered the “stack” head injuries that can cause a player to become more likely to have an injury of that magnitude.
Trent Green had led the Dolphins down the field in a first quarter drive that stalled on the Texans one yard line, as the Dolphins lined up to go for the touchdown on 4th down, David Martin was off-sides and the team settled on a field goal.
After the Green injury, Cleo Lemon looked less than stellar on his first series of the season, as expected, but still managed to move the team to its first touchdown in the first quarter this year.
