Trent Green Shows What He's Made Of

Trent Green stretcher — Courtest of the Sun SentinelIf you didn’t respect Trent Green before today, you should be giving the man all of the respect that you can right now. A lot of the fans think that he’s old and washed up and obviously they were calling for Cleo Lemon after last week’s debacle against Oakland but Green showed today what type of player he is.

Here is a guy that took a viscous, career threatening hit to the head last season. Not only did he get back on the field at the age of 36, but he basically begged to join our Dolphins. While most guys would bolt on this franchise and the state that it’s in right now, Trent basically begged to get on and contribute.

He joined a rebuilding team with a rookie coach, with a weak offensive line and deep down he must have known that it was going to be a long year. The team gets off to an 0-4 start and while the fans are booing and calling for the back-up, Green is running downfield and trying to put a block on a defensive tackle.

Please try to wrap your mind around that. A 37-year old that already has suffered a huge concussion, playing for a team that is going nowhere, running downfield and putting a block on a big defensive tackle. You can boo him, you can say that he’s washed up, but please show the man the respect that he has earned.

Trent might be back in a few weeks but I’d rather not see him out there. Not because I blame him for our bad play, but just because I’m thinking about his health and his family. It’s just not worth it Trent. I know that he’s a competitor and that he’s not going to hang it up, but I wish he would. I don’t want to see him take another hit..a hit that might do some real damage to him.

But yes, it was another rough Sunday…another rough loss and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get better any time soon.
