Jason Taylors Hints at Leaving the Phins

Sometimes, in this world, you can make a prediction based on nothing more than a hunch, see my post about Chris Chambers being traded to SD…we got a 2nd instead of Turner, I was a little off.  That by the way was dated way back on September 10th.  But we are not here to talk about Chris Chambers, we are here to talk about Jason Taylor.  If you go back and read my predictions of Mr. Taylor, “enjoy this year fans, it may be JT’s last” on Sept. 18th, you may be feeling that those predictions have somehow become more of a reality.  Jason Taylor has hinted that he is done as  a Miami Dolphin.

Earlier today, the thoughts of Jason Taylor regarding the trade of Chris Chambers has come to light, and it isn’t pretty.

First in a conversation with Peter King of SI and Inside the NFL, King says that Taylor said, “Everyone in this building is afraid to use the ‘R’ word.  We’re a rebuilding franchise.”  When pressed on whether he wished he would have been traded instead of Chambers, Jason said, “Peter, your putting me in a tough spot here.”

Taylor has always been one of the classiest individuals in the Miami Dolphins organization.  It is unfair to judge a person who has left his heart out on a football field.  In Miami though, there is nothing left for Jason Taylor and it is time for him to move on.  Jason can not be traded this year and will likely retire or quietly ask for a trade prior to that announcement.  He wants to win a championship, he wants to play for something real.  He will not get that in Miami any time soon.

Still, Jasons’ frustration over the season and over the trade of Chambers has spilled elsewhere and although undermining Cam Cameron is not something that a guy like Taylor would do, it appears that the frustration has mounted to a degree that Miami fans have not seen before.

Taylor made the following comments about rebuilding, the trade of Chambers, and his future with the Miami Dolphins to reporters.

From the Palm Beach Post:

"“You can use whatever word you want, retooling, reloading, whatever the heck you want to call it, but it is what it is. We’re rebuilding. I’m man enough to see that and say it.”  – when asked about the team rebuilding."

"“It’s not good news. It’s nothing I like,” Taylor said Wednesday, a day after the Dolphins traded Chambers for a second-round pick. “But we also know what we are. We’re not a good team right now.” – In regards to the trade of Chris Chambers."

"“I didn’t even think about it,” he said. “I didn’t think about football. I didn’t come over here. I didn’t talk to anybody. I turned my phone off. I could care less.” – About whether or not the trade deadline marked the end of his career.“After the season, who knows what’s going to happen,” – In regards to whether he will play elsewhere next year."

As the season of disgust continues, Jason Taylor would be one of the first to tell you that he too is part of the problem.  He says so in the same manor that he always has, his face hollowed to a level that in 11 years he has seldom felt, Jason Taylor will always be a Miami Dolphin, but he may not always be only a Miami Dolphin.
