If you think that the Miami Dolphins are happy with the news, imagine how happy Vonnie Holliday is. After missing the better part of the season with a broken ankle, the DT has finally been cleared to play and will be full contact at practice.
This is a huge development for a defense reeling after starting 0-8. Holliday had been replaced by a bunch of no-name plugs and rookies, the results have been less than satisfying.
As the Phins prepare to take on the Bills this weekend, it is increasingly important to have someone as talented as Holliday ready to go. Holliday broke his ankle in week 4 against the Raiders in the first quarter (the above picture is immediately after he came out of the game).
Holliday will add some much needed veteran leadership to a unit that is ranked close to the very bottom in rushing yards allowed.
On the other injury front, Zach Thomas also returned to practice however his news is tempered by the fact that it is still unknown if he will participate in contact drills and Cameron has not said whether or not he will be available for the game on Sunday. Thomas suffered whiplash after the New England Patriots game when he and his wife were rear-ended on their way home. Thomas did not make the trip to London and has already missed games this season due to a concussion.
