Today must be the Miami Dolphins official day of breaking news. Now if the starting of John Beck isn’t enough, reports are widely being circulated that Ricky Williams has been reinstated and can rejoin the Dolphins.
Ricky is coming off his 3rd, no wait, his 4th, his 5th? Hell I don’t know anymore. He is coming off yet “another” drug suspension.
The question now becomes what to do with him? The trade deadline has passed, he has zero off-season value in terms of a trade, so does Miami keep him? Or do they cut him?
I am of the opinion that you just get rid of the guy. He will not be in football shape for at least another 3 to 4 weeks, which will leave about 3 or 4 games left on the schedule. His off field problems have monumentally contributed to this team becoming what it is now, and realistically, this guy can not be counted on.
Some would like to see him used and exploited and then try and trade him. If there was honestly any shred of worth in Ricky, I too would be on that wagon. Ricky might bring a conditional 7th if we are lucky. Yes, he is that unreliable. So talented, yet so unreliable.
For now, one more chapter in the Ricky Williams saga has ended, and another one has begun. Personally, I would like nothing better than to just close the book for good.
