Miami Dolphins HC Cam Cameron said today in his press conference, according Dave over at Bitchin’ Daves, that Ricky Williams will be added to the 53 man roster and only needs a fresh start.
So, I guess it took a simple face to face to decide that Ricky Williams is worth betting on once again. Hopefully, Ricky can show that he is still in prime condition so that some team this off-season will at least offer us a 7th round draft pick.
Any predictions on when Ricky fails his next drug test?
February. Just after we get a trade worked out.
You know, I was in the mind set that hopefully Ricky can come back and stay clean long enough for us to get a draft pick. Now I’m thinking, if Ricky does stay clean (and that is a BIG if) and returns to the player he once was, then we will never get what he is worth. A healthy "happy" (but not too happy!) Ricky is worth much more than a 7th rounder….but no one will give us more than that. So, maybe we keep Ricky and get something for Chatman, who has proven to be a really nice RB in Ronnie’s absence. If Ricky does stay clean, we might as well be the ones that prosper for it. Yes, I know that’s a big chance, but really, what do we have to lose? If he stays clean we get a top notch RB for the vet minimum. If he doesn’t then at least we don’t have to watch him go the Pats and light it up!
Well, I think you hit it on the head when you said "chance". What we have to lose is simple. Ronnie doesn’t recover right away, Chatman is gone and we are relying on Ricky Williams…and if/WHEN he fails another test, he will once again leave this team in a RB bind. Plus, when his contract is up after next season, who really knows if he will stay and play when he no longer has that onus of owing money to anyone? Ricky is a "nice" guy, but this team has enough problems than to be trying to solve them with a problem. In my opinion.
