The season and possibly the career of Miami Dolphins All-Pro linebacker, Zach Thomas, came to an end today as the concussed LB was placed on IR. Thomas had been battling migraine headaches for the last 7 weeks and has been unable to get cleared to play. The medical team had told Thomas that until he was able to go an entire week without symptoms, that he would not be allowed to play.
The decision on Thomas brings into doubt his career with the Dolphins. Thomas has on at least one occassion that he wants nothing more than to retire a Dolphin, however, he has also stated that he wants to play at least another year regardless of where that might be. The timing of this decisions comes with so much uncertainty surrounding his brother-in-law, Jason Taylor and his future with the Dolphins.
To replace Zach Thomas on the active 53, the Dolphins activated LB Kelvin Smith off the practice squad as well as offensive tackle, Julius Wilson. To make room for Wilson, the Dolphins placed Safety Cameron Worrell on the IR list as well with an ACL tear.
WR Kerry Reed who had shown much promise back in training camp was released.
