Atlanta had a deal on the table to make Bill Parcells the VP of football operations. It was a done deal. According to Parcells. Well, that deal is no more as Parcells has turned down the offer. In a statement released by Falcons Owner Arthur Blank, the owner confirmed that the Parcells deal was dead, after it was learned that Parcells was considering an offer from the Miami Dolphins.
According to the statement, the team had an agreement in principle with Parcells, but after he told the Falcons he was considering an offer from the Miami Dolphins, negotiations fell through.
“We gave it our best shot, and it didn’t work out,” Blank said
The next issue will be with where Parcells will go and what offer is he considering with Miami. Wayne Huizenga has held negotiations with at least one group about buying the team, that certainly would not likely be a consideration if Parcells was hired. Rumors had circulated early this season that team President Bryan Weidemeir may leave the Phins for Green Bay after the season.
News apparently broke during a team break and players immediately began watching the news as it unfolded.
The off-season for the Dolphins is still 2 weeks away from officially starting, looks like it will have every bit of the soap opera as last year. Stay “Tunaed” to Phinphanatic.com for ongoing updates of this development.
