Earlier today in their Senior Bowl coverage, the NFL Network had Jeff Ireland sit down with them for a five minute interview. Some interesting topics were briefly discussed.
He was asked about Matt Ryan and the quarterback position. He said he was disappointed that Ryan wasn’t at the Senior Bowl but he knows he is working hard. He also mentioned he was impressed with him in their brief talk at a Boston College game this year.
He talked about team needs and used the term, “musts.” That’s the first time I’ve heard that term used but it struck me as something that really explains the Dolphins well. Teams can neglect certain needs and get away with it, but the Dolphins have several musts and if they aren’t taking care of, we won’t be getting better
He was asked about projecting guys moving from a 4-3 defense to a 3-4, specifically the DE to OLB transition. He noted that DeMarcus Ware was obviously good enough because he can do anything he wants on a football field. This will be an interesting area for the ‘Phins. They must be correct in determining which players can play in the 3-4 positions if that is in fact what we will run.
