This is round 2 of our 3rd mock draft.
– Dan Connor – LB – Penn St.: The Dolphins will need to focus on the LB position at some point. Zach Thomas is questionable for a return next season, there are outside LB questions and the Dolphins may likely go to a full time 3-4. Connor is a tackling machine. The biggest question is this…Is there any way that this kid could fall out of round 1? Answer: Not likely. It will all depend on what teams really focus on. Connor would be a steal…IMO…in the 2nd round.

You currently have Erin Henderson going to both the Bengals and the Giants…
Thank You. I have since made that correction.
Lions WILL NOT take a TE this year. too many other holes.
Interesting but, Dan Connor as you mentioned won’t slip, neither will Sam Baker. I’ve been a phin fan for a long time (Pre Marino). We need to build the d-line and get an OT to state the obvious , at the same time this is a QB league. I consider draftng Ryan, or if the brass is big on a lesser QB pick one up in the 2nd round … not sure what the QB draft will be like in ‘09 or the QB free agent market in ‘09.Maybe that’s it pick up a QB in the ‘09 Free Agency – throw lots of cap money there way to entice them and mean while fill holes in the draft this year and next – trade JT for a 2nd round next year.
I would love it if we traded down but I don’t think it will happen. Any QB is only as good as his left tackle. I also think Matt Ryan is the most overrated player in the draft. Beck didn’t look like the answer last year but with no RB, 1 WR who is more of a returner and who was a rookie, along with a weak o-line, he has not really been given a fair chance. Jake Long is the only 1st pick I see making any sense. His pass blocking may not compare to Joe Thomas but he still only allowed 2 sacks in the past 2 years in Michigan and he is a powerful beast. With the first pick in the second round if Dan Connor fell to them only Nick Saban could screw that up. One option I would be OK with is trading this pick for Deangelo Hall and swopping 1st overall if necessary. Pick 57 I’d like to see another LB Crable, Groves or Jarod Mayo. If there is no trade for Hall and we got Connor pick 32 then we could maybe go CB. Pick 64 With pick 96 I like Kendall Langford to develop into a solid 3-4 end, or Brad Cottam a big fast TE. We will miss you Zach!
