Deof: We didnt agree on the Lehan salary but we couldnt agree more on both this and the Zach situation about him going to NE. He did have that right to choose where he went....but Im really glad he went to Dallas. As for the draft...your right, the key is to move down a few slots and then work from there. It is going to be very difficult to find a suitor outside of the top 5 with the number 1. I don't think Baltimore however will want to move up that far though.

So it looks like the first step is to get the Falcons to want to move up enough to get Ryan and then we'll have other suitors for the 3rd pick. Now if Ryan can convince the Ravens at the combine (yeah, I know he isn't participating in many of the drills, but those are generally overrated anyway) to start a bidding war for the #1 pick between them and Atlanta, all the better.

I like it as well. I also wouldnt be surprised in the least if Jones is not willing to move up to get McFadden...if we are in the 3 hole, that KC doesnt inquire about moving up to 3 to take Jake Long if he is there. It is going to be interesting, right now we really need to hope that we can just get out of one.

MisterX, that's exactly the trade possibility I 'm hoping for/ suggested a few days ago on the "Trade Partner Found for #1 Pick?" (http://phinphanatic.com/2008/02/21/trade-partner-found-for-pick-1/) article a few days ago. It looks like Parcells and Ireland have to get ready for the biggest sales job of their lives.

I guess it's all down to nerve and who holds it. If Atlanta hold theirs we stay at #1. If they get jittery we'll get #3 plus. It's gonna be a long two months... ;-)

I agree with Deof. After checking out Falcon news, boards, etc. the general concensus was that the coin toss = lottery draft pick. Before today the talk was about trading down and perhaps it still is, ie. the Giants. Oh, but don't be fooled...they want Ryan. Matt Ryan is the only Pro-ready QB coming out and he has even talked about what a great city it is and how he could really help them, etc. Most football analysts (for what it's worth) believe that Atlanta NEEDS a new start and a new face - see Michael Vick. I have been calling it for weeks: Don't be totally surprised it Parcells pulls a deal out of his tuna - #1 for #3+ (Atanta gets Ryan), then #3+ for #22,#28+ (Dallas[J.Jones/Razorback fan] get McFadden). Everbody wins. Thoughts?

The problem with them waiting for Ryan at #3, however, is that they don't have any guarantee that the 'Phins won't trade the pick to someone else who's interested in him... or won't take him themselves. Miami's best chance to trade the spot looks to be if Ryan (or maybe even McFadden, whom the 'Pokes are said to be interested in) really wows scouts at the combine and some other team starts bidding for the #1 choice overall.

I can't see they'd need to trade. We aren't going to take Ryan and I don't see why the Rams would either so Atlanta'll probably be happy with #3. I think we'll be stuck at #1 unfortunately...

I think it helps us as the cost for the Falcons to move up is not as much...maybe a 2 or a 3The Falcons know that RB is deep and unless they see Flacco as the answer they will want Ryan first and get a guy like Mendenhall later in round 1 if the trade with the Gmen go down. Either way, the draft is going to be a sticky situation in terms of moving down with anyone. In the end, we may very well get stuck with the top pick.

I'm not sure if this hurts or helps us. It could hurt us in this way. If they really like both Matt Ryan and Darren McFadden, they are now guaranteed to get one of them. This would mean unless they felt REALLY strongly about Ryan, they would have no reason to trade. But, I think they do really like Ryan, plus moving from 3 to 1 is much easier than 4 or 5 to 1. It will cost less for them if they want to trade up and get him.For the Dolphins, I think it is all set up. All we have to do is not get greedy. In order to swap 1st rounders, we should only need their 2nd rounder and a future pick, (probably next years 2nd). I really hope they can make it happen.
