Profootballtalk is reporting that the Dallas Cowboys have agreed to a deal with former Miami Dolphins linebacker Zach Thomas. He has spurned the offer of the Patriots and saved the Dolphins nation a ton of grief. Zach Thomas is going home.
Zach broke the hearts of millions last week when he visited the New England Patriots, the divison rivals who seem to pick up all of our ex-players. The word loyalty was thrown around on forums from coast to coast while questioning how 12 years of bitter rivalry could so easily be tossed. He left NE with a contract offer, but he never signed it.
The contract is reportedly worth up to 3 million based on signing bonuses, base, and incentives. Thomas who grew up north of Dallas in Pampa will play what is likely to be his final years in the state that it all started with.
With this contract, expected to be signed within days, Thomas goes from the bottom to the top in terms of playoff competition. Dallas is expected to once again challenge for the Super Bowl next season.
As Zach Thomas rides off into the Texas sunset no longer wearing the “aqua and orange” PhinsNation smiles and can finally wish him well. In the end, it appears that Zach Thomas showed as much class in leaving Miami and choosing his final destination, as he did in the 12 years he played for the Phins.
Thank you Zach Thomas…it will be nice to still be able to root for you!

As much as I didn’t want to see him signing with the Patsies, I was getting sick of hearing about how he would have been a traitor to do so. He has as much right to choose his employer- and not be castigated for it- as any of us do.
I am glad he went to the Cowgirls, I couldn’t take another old LB going to NE in search for a SB ring….

Let me be the first to tell you Landry, from a Shula dolfan, Zach Thomas is the type of player that teams like the Dolphins and Cowboys are made of. The history of winning, sportsmanship and respect that these two teams have earned are built on guys like Zach Thomas. With the business of the NFL run as it is, it’s a shame that moves like this have had to happen. He is a loyal and committed player. The positive that comes out of a move like this one is that a great player gets to go home and perhaps retire with some great winning memories, if not the Big One, which I hope happens for him this coming year. Bad new first: concussions – they are real, and they are career ending and for a guy that has his helmet in every play that may mean a short ride for the Cowboys.Good news: you have a true professional, a leader on the field and off, a blessing to the community, a hard worker, a perfectionist, a "football guy", a player that NEVER takes a down off, probably the highest IQ of anyone to ever play the middle, a Hall of Famer with more tackles than any other inductee to this point in history. Not bad for 3mil if you ask me. But this is the humble opinion of a diehard Dolphin fan an a strong supporter of the greatest middle linebacker to ever play the position…period.
