Bell Bottoms Out In Miami?

Yeremiah Bell (dolphinslaxer.com)It appears that the 2nd current longest tenured Miami Dolphins draft pick (Jason Taylor) may have bottomed outYeremiah Bell, selected in the 6th round of the 2003 draft is set to enter free agency on Friday.  Bell who had shown flashes of becoming a very solid Safety, met disaster last year when he tore his Achilles tendon in first week of the season.

Bell managed to survive the purging of Dave Wannstedt, Nick Saban, and Cam Cameron.  He does not appear to be surviving the Jeff Ireland/Bill Parcells era.  Bell will test the market and the Dolphins could still bring him back for a year.  They will not likely invest money in a guy that has a tendency now of being injured.  The Achilles was the third injury to cause Bell to miss playing time.  The Dolphins may be looking toward Gibril Wilson out of New York to fill the need.

In other free agent issues related to the Phins, the agents for OG Rex Hadnot have still not spoken with the Dolphins and Rex is expected to hit the open market as well.  It has been rumored that he is seeking a deal in the 5-6 million a year range.  A Hadnot departure will leave only Jason Taylor and Vernon Carey on the roster as Miami draft picks prior to the 2004 draft…a mere 4 years ago.

I have been like this for a long time.  Watching Shula and Marino be pushed out the door so long ago, why should I feel remorse over guys like Bell?  JT and ZT are a little different, but in reality, I have become rather immune to it all realizing that some changes need to be made in order to move forward...which I hope we finally are.

My heart strings will not be pulled by any moves anymore as long as they make business sense or make us better.  As a long time fan...getting back to winning is all I care about right now.  Whatever the cost.

with the injury history maybe it is...LOL...I agree that this is good business.  If Bell doesn't sign elsewhere, he can always sign again for league min to return with no guarantees.

Is it just me or does Bell appear to be wearing a skirt in that photo? As much as I'd like Bell to come back 100% healthy, there's no gaurantees that he will.  Smart move on Parcells part to explore other options, no matter how cold that might seem from a business perspective.
