Hadnot And Green Find New Homes

Trent Green - Washington PostRex Hadnot wondered openly why the Miami Dolphins had shown no interest in resigning the veteran who started 16 games at center two years ago and 14 at guard last year.  His agent questioned the motives right up and through the Combine.  After hitting the free agent market, it was obvious, at least to Hadnot, that he way overvalued his worth.  Seeking a contract in the 5 mill range, Hadnot got only a few calls for visits and no offers.  Today, Hadnot has a new home…with the Browns.  I do not have the terms of the deal or length of the contract.

Following the announcement of Hadnot and earlier today the news that Jesse Chatman signed with the Jets, Trent Green has a not so new home.  Green is returning to the St. Louis Rams to back up Marc Bulger.  Green signed a 3 year deal worth 9 million dollars although he likely will not see close to that amount as most of the figure will be predicated on playing time.

2 year deal for 7.5 million.  A far cry from the 25 million 5 year deal that he was likely looking for.I guess Parcells and Ireland weren’t the only ones who were not overly impressed with Rex.  I am much happier with Justin Smiley myself.  I think Rex was way to inconsistant and I thought his play actually got worse as the season went on last year.

I think Rex was given some bad advice by his agent if he genuinely believed he was worth a $25M deal for 5yrs. I just hope he’s packed his thermals! :-)
