The Dolphins have already made their pick in Saturdays draft, but that is not stopping the team from making more moves. Today the Miami Dolphins released 8 players. Among them, safety Cameron Worrell who failed his physical.
The other 7 are as follows:
• QB Casey Bramlet
• LB Marcello Church
• S Tuff Harris
• CB Jereme Perry
• WR Kerry Reed
• LB Mark Washington
• WR Chandler Williams
In and of itself the moves are nothing overly shocking except for the fact that Phins were already short on roster positions. The draft this year will only provide 9 new faces as it stands at the moment. The face of the franchise went under the knife last year when former HC Cam Cameron and GM Randy Mueller replaced the team with 23 new faces. So far this off-season the new regime has done the same, that number seems to be increasing and it is likely that next season will see many of those not cut this year gone.
As the Phins ready themselves for the draft and the subsequent months leading up to the training camp, the question is, who else will be gone when the season starts?
I don’t think the dolphins should trade Jason Taylor. Then again if they can get a 1st or 2nd round pick for it I’m all for it. Our team needs to keep gettig younger players and left go of the players from yester year.
Getting rid of these eight guys when we already had a short roster says one thing to me: we will be among the most active teams in signing street free agents immediately after the draft. I say sign as many as you can and sort it out later. If I was a prospect who wasn’t drafted, and Parcells called me I’m on the next plane to Miami. I would want to be part of this. It’s an exciting time for our team.
Couldn’t agree more Jim.
I second that Jim.
I just had a thought…….Why did Miami not package Taylor with Zach Thomas when they knew they were cutting Thomas earlier? That would’ve guaranteed them a first rounder, wouldn’t it have? That confused me from day one, when I thought they should’ve been traded together to Dallas for #22. Oh well. LOL.
Zach did not have the value that everyone thought he would have. Most teams knew that he was going to be released at some point and he isn’t the type of player anymore that is going to draw a bidding war. Packaging JT and ZT together would not have made Dallas move a pick that early in the offseason. They may not have any interest at all in giving it up now for JT…or a 2nd rounder for that matter.
Thanks Brian for your insight again. I guess I would have held out till the draft to cut Zach just in case a team would bite on a combo trade. LOL. One more question: Is Matt Roth out of place as a DE in a 3-4 due to his size?
