I'm sure everyone by now has heard the report that shortly after his tearful retirement speech in March. The Packers tried to get him back to which he supposedly receptive. They chartered a private jet down to Mississippi and Farve changed his mind again. It really resembles a soap opera. "I have to leave, it's the right decision." "Wait I still love you, come back." "O.K., I love you too. Let's get back together." "I've thought about it and I can't come back, I still love you but I just can't do it anymore." "Fine, I guess I have to move on." "Wait, I was wrong, I can't stand to see you with another person." "Sorry but I have a new person in my life now." "If thats your attitude then I want nothing to do with you anymore!"
I'm sure you can figure out who's who in that little example. I really think that Farve is being a prima donna. I get the point he's done a lot for the club and the NFL. But I disagree that that gives him the right to jerk around the Packers until he feels enough love. Everybody has the right to change their mind and everybody also has the right to move on. While Farve would probably give them the best chance to win now what do the year after that. "OK Arron, we really mean it this time, it your team." By that point Arron Rodgers would probably be asking for his release because he got dicked around by the Packers so much.
Sometimes I just wish something would happen that made it impossible for Farve to throw a football anymore (nothing horrible of course). At least then we wouldn't have to wait every year to see what Brett Farve will do.

If he is serious then he'll come back because he'll know that the first time that 'O' stalls in a game when the Pack are struggling the fans will be all over Rodgers and screaming for Favre to be thrown in.

The pressure on the team and the disruption it'd cause should be enough to ensure that they trade him away for a 7th just to get rid of him to a team whose starter has gone down for a few weeks, maybe most of the season.

He gets out and the Pack are forced to trade in order to save their season from decending in to farce.

Brian,

Great article and well said. I have listened to kids post on forums that players of my age range 35-40 have nothing left and should retire. My comment, is what do they know about this ball player and how can people make that judgement. Just because players are young don't mean they will be great. When Farve is ready to leave, he will. This is not something that players can just walk out and do in most cases. I heard Farve say numerous times that he had to bail this team out and it was wearing him out. He needs out of Green Bay-IMO. Miami is not expected to do well from what I am hearing this coming season. I would like to see Farve as Miami's QB. Trade Jason Taylor to Green Bay if Farve would sign a 2 or 3 year deal, not retire, and get Parcels to get the players needed to get this done. I know to most people this seems far fetched, but to me it doesn't. My cousin drives in Nascar, Bill Elliott, and this is his last year period. I hear people say that Bill needs to get off the track. IMO, Bill has earned the right to leave when he wants to leave-on his terms, and not just because he is my cousin. He is driving a car now that is like the MIami Dolphins situation-do what you can to survive and keep the team going. BTW, he is not a cousin that is way down the list either. He has been at family functions.

It is not up to us to decide when Farve leaves the NFL. It is up to Farve. If GB wants Rodgers, they can have him. I like Farve and will pull for him because this is not an easy decision and he is a respectable person and player. Mike Vick is no Farve. I realize Farve is making millions to play the game, but I respect this man and how he has handled himself in adverse situations. He has made mistakes and owned up to them-so have I. I am glad you wrote this article because this is one player that if he made billions of dollars playing I would not say one word in a negative way. I hope he will become a MIami Dolphin because of who he is. He could bring wins and encouragement to this team.
