On the DLs -
The team will probably keep 6, maybe 7 DL. Ferguson, Starks, Merling and Langford are virtual locks. I would not be surprised to see Holiday traded as other teams suffer injuries in TC, especially if Merling looks ready to play. If Holiday sticks around, that leaves Wright, Soliai, and Roth fighting for one, maybe two roster spots. Dotson is headed for the PC.
Soliai may not be mean enough to play NT, but he's certainly big enough. I know work ethic has been a question with him, but if he hasn't been working hard enough this offseason, don't you think he would already have been shown the door? Hopefully, better coaching can help him develop.
Starks may see some time at NT this year, but I really don't think they are giving him piles of money to tie up blockers in the middle. NT just isn't a big investment type of position.

On the LBs -
Porter should occupy JTs old position on the weak side. Crowder will likely be next to him. Charlie Anderson may be the front-runner for the strong side outside LB spot, but he will be pushed by Moses (who is far to light to add weight and move inside to DT, he'd have to add 50+ pounds). Torbor and Ayodele is an interesting battle for the other ILB spot. While Ayodele is more experienced in this system, he is also more versatile, which would make him a valuable 5th LB. Torbor is the superior run-stopper.
Backup LBs will be an interesting battle. After the aforementioned 6 LBs, there are probably 2 more roster spots. If noone flashes NFL starter potential, it will certainly come down to ST performances. Smith may have a built-in advantage in that he was recruited to Syracuse by Pasquiloni. This is a position likely to be upgraded via waiver-wire.

On the DBs -
One thing many players have said about this defense is that it allows them to just play, without having to mentally master all of the shifts and adjustments in other schemes. That could be a good thing for Jason Allen, who looks to be physically superior to all of the other Ss, but may be a little slower upstairs. If he can let his athletic ability take over, he's certain to be a starter. Bell should be the other starter, pending his arm falling off, or some other season-ending injury. I think Crocker is the third best S on the roster, and Davis is a ST demon, possibly making Hill the odd man out.
Will Allen, Goodman and Lehan should be the top 3 CBs, I'll say Nathan Jones makes the team, along with a waiver pickup.
