“And This One Time…At Phins Camp…”
If you have ever played sports in High-School or College….or even professionally, there is always that one day you hate. The final cut. Today, the dreams of about 500 NFL “want to be’s” will end between now and 4.
For the Miami Dolphins, that number is 17, according to the official team sites roster.
They have worked hard. Endured yelling, screaming, fighting, the heat, the wind, and the rain…and after today, it will mean little. For many through out the NFL it will simply be something to talk about back home, a bar story that starts with, “…and this one time, at Phins camp…”
There are some names that you would believe to be on the final 53, but, we have learned one thing from this company of decision makers. No one is safe in that middle group. Not even if your a Bill Parcells guy.
So who are those middle guys that might be out of a job, who are the ones that will have one, and who will be looking for another team to join or praying they get stashed on the practice squad? Here is my final look at this years cuts. This time, no reasons are given. We will find out today if what the real results are. I predicted that John Beck would be traded today leaving only 2 QB’s on the roster. I still think that is a possibility but it will come after other teams make their cuts and the team can see who is available. For now, he will be listed on the final 53 as barring a trade he will not be cut today.
Likely To Be Cut:
Lex Hilliard, Ikechuku Ndukwe, Mike Byrne, Pedro Sosa, Matt Mulligan, Sean Ryan, Reagan Mauia, Jayson Foster, Rod Wright, Lionel Dotson, Titus Brown, Maurice Fountain, Kelly Poppinga, Edmond Miles, Will Billingsley, Quentin Moses, Rob Ninkovich
Staying put: bold names are on the bubble and could be cut or be cut over the weekend for a free agent signing.

Ooops, you have Jalen Parmale there twice. Maybe Quentin Moses sticks instead of Parmale keeping two spots!
August 30th, 2008 at 12:03 pmThanks Mike.
Now I have to figure out who I missed…LOL
August 30th, 2008 at 12:05 pmSo who do you see being put on the practice squad? Just curious.
August 30th, 2008 at 12:07 pmDeof: hard to say right now honestly.
I think Foster would be for sure if he gets cut and clears. So would Armstrong if he goes, Shawn Murphy if he goes. Look for possibly Lionel Dotson, Pedro Sosa…my guess is a definate, and if Moses can still be placed their…he may as well.
August 30th, 2008 at 12:16 pmWow, I agree on all of those Brian. I think Armstrong, Dotson and Sosa will go there for sure if available. Murphy I think will stick and be an inactive all year, but if he is cut he will definitely be on the PS. Not sure about moses, as he may have been on the 53 man roster for too many games. Not sure how that works, but it has to do with number of games being on a roster.
August 30th, 2008 at 12:27 pmHere are the rules regarding PS. Players are eligible for the PS Assuming he has not served two season on a practice squad:
Players who do not have an accrued season of NFL Experience
Free Agents who were on the active list for less than 9 games in their accrued season
Moses is listed as being in 7 games last year so I guess he is eligible.
August 30th, 2008 at 12:34 pmI couldn’t remember off the top of my head Mike…thanks…Again…:)
