The Miami Dolphins today waived FB Boomer Grigsby who beat out Reagan Mauia for a spot on the roster. He held that spot for one week before being relegated to the unemployment line. The Dolphins have told him they plan to use their TE’s more instead of a FB. The news though is odd considering that the report from scout.com also says that Miami will bring in Casey Cramer, a 6-2 250 pound fullback to take his place. That leads me to believe that the Phins just were not all that happy with Grigsby’s play.
The real news however, and the more important, is found further on the same report that says the word out of Miami is that 6th round pick and starting RG Donald Thomas will be out for the season and the Phins are already looking for his replacement. Thomas was seen on Monday with crutches favoring an ankle injury that he said he sustained in the 2nd quarter of the Jets game. He said it was just precautionary and finished the game and hoped to practice on Wednesday.
While the Dolphins have released nothing on either of these situations, Grigsby did confirm his release with local media. Donald Thomas would be a huge loss considering the extreme lack of depth on the offensive line.
