You may have noticed that our Phinphanatic Banner received a face lift today. Gone is the blank question mark that filled the bland silhouette of the departed Jason Taylor and in it’s place is a beautiful Miami Dolphins cheerleader, the winner of the “replace JT” poll.
On the other side of he banner you will see a cheering fan.
His name is Tommy Monger, winner of our “Fan on the Banner” contest.
Tommy and his dad Gordon are life long Miami Dolphins fans. In the photo submitted by Tommy, he and his father were at the 2008 Miami Dolphins draft party when the photo was captured. Born and raised in south Florida, Tommy and Gordon have not missed a game the Phins have played. For Tommy, that has been a span of 18 years if you include those years between birth and walking. Knowing his father, Tommy was decked to a tee as a toddler, propped in front of the family television while Dad cheered on the Phins all those years ago.
On his 17th birthday, Tommy was given a gift of eternal expression. A Miami Dolphins tatoo on his right arm. (Mine is on the left by the way). His father too bares the Phins logo as well on the same arm. Tommy sports the 1976- 1996 logo version while Gordon sports the original on his arm.
Tommy will have his mug up on our site until the next league season begins in March 2009 when we will begin opening the Email’s again for the next fan’s image.
We thank all of you who showed the interest in this contest and appreciate the great photos submitted. In the end we felt that Tommy had the flair of “Phandom” that we thought made him…
“Not just a fan but a “Phanatic”!”
