It is a question that has been asked over and over and over again for the first quarter of the season and the 2nd half of last season. Where is Ted Ginn? The Miami Dolphins still have him listed as the number 1 WR on the depth chart, but if his play count is any indication, that 1st WR spot is in name only.
So far this season, in 3 games, Ginn has managed to be nowhere. He has caught 8 balls for 75 yards. No, he hasn’t scored. On the special teams, he isn’t playing. It makes one think that he is being protected from injury. While it is apparent that the Dolphins special teams uses a straight ahead runner like Davone Bess, Ginn is more of an East/West punt returner until he can get up field, so it’s not all that surprising.
What is surprising is the fact that fans and media alike have no clue what’s going on and the “coachspeak” has shed little light on the subject. On Sunday, Ted Ginn will play against his friend and mentor Chris Chambers. Ginn is one of the reasons that last years staff felt going forward they could do so without Chambers.
While I don’t expect Ted Ginn to make much of an impact, I do expect his name to be mentioned often. As in next week when we all start wondering again, “where is Ted Ginn?”
