The Miami Dolphins turnstile at the RG spot continues to turn. Today the team announced that Matt McChesney their new RG will be done for the year with a knee injury placing him on IR. To take his roster spot, the Dolphins signed Rob Ninkovich off the practice squad.
Ninkovich was on the 53 last season and played in 4 games last year on ST’s while being inactive the rest. He will likely see many opportunities on the special teams units so long as he is active.
The Dolphins have only 3 healthy RG’s at the moment with playing time. Ikechuku Ndukwe, Andy Alleman, and Justin Smiley. The Phins have rookie Shawn Murphy available, but Murphy has been inactive all 9 games thus far. Alleman is listed on the team roster as a center.
The Phins will likely begin looking for a new face to add to the practice squad to fill the vacated Ninkovich spot.
