The Miami Dolphins have their days off on Monday. It’s a day to recoup. Relax. Spend time with family. It’s a time to reflect on the weekend that was and begin the mental preparation for the weekend that will be. This week, that will not be the case. Head coach Tony Sparano has told the team that it’s time to play ball and that means for at least this week, there will be no time off…at least not on Monday.
The Dolphins are not celebrating their 4 victory in a row and instead will return to work tomorrow as they break down game film and begin the game prep for the New England Patriots. Drive by the Davie facility tonight and a dim light will shine from the HC’s office, a television glowing with the silent film of today’s game. Downstairs a few players may be stirring as well. Hot tubs, sauna baths, and more game film.
See this is not last years Miami Dolphins where HC Cam Cameron would leave the stadium for home and his family while at least one player, John Beck, would head back to the training center to review film. No this is a completely different team made from a mix of 1-15 returning players and a spice of winning attitude. It’s why the players are not complaining about reporting to work.
This team wants more, they expect more from themselves. In the morning, aching bodies will roll out of bed, limp to the kitchen for coffee and showers that will be lengthy to soothe sore muscles and black and blue bruises. Then, it’s out of the house and back to work.
The Patriots haven’t played since Thursday. They will be rested and they will want to even a 38-13 score that left them seething in week 3. The Dolphins will do their best to not let that happen, and for these Dolphins…that prep very well may have started already…from that little glow in the HC’s office.
