Phins Make Roster Moves…Move Up In Draft

The Miami Dolphins signed a new LB and signed 7 players from the practice squad yesterday as the team begins to prepare…are you ready…the off-season conditioning program.  Yes, you heard it right.  2 weeks removed from the season ending loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the Dolphins are readying their team for the offseason programs.

Players are not at the facility working out on mandatory get togethers and won’t be for a while but the Phins locking up some of their own PS guys allows them to work with the team throughout the off-season once the programs begin…after the March start of the league new year.

Signed was WR Anthony Armstrong and Todd Lowber, CB’s Scorpio Babers and Will Billingsley, DT Joe Cohen, FB Chris Brown. RB Lex Hilliard was also signed.

In addition the Phins added LB Tearrius George not to be confused with Curious George.  George spent time with the Dallas Cowboys on their practice squad before picked up by the New Orleans Saints in December but was released before playing a game and before the Saints final game of the season.  The 6-foot-4, 260-pound hybrid linebacker/DE originally played in the CFL as a defensive end.

IN DRAFT NEWS the Miami Dolphins moved up one spot to the number 25 slot after the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals both made it to the the NFC Championship game.  Both teams were slotted ahead of Miami but because one of them will now make the Super Bowl, that team will have to pick in the 31 or 32 slot moving Miami down one.

With 4 teams currently holding records of 11-5 the Dolphins will move up one spot in each round before dropping to the back of the order in round 4.  New England and Atlanta both pick in front of Miami with Baltimore picking after the Phins.  If the Ravens beat Pittsburgh to move on to the Super Bowl only three teams will rotate each round with Baltimore Ravens picking in the 31 or 32 slot.

It should also be noted that the Dolphins will make their first pick in the second round at pick 12 because Washington will rotate up one spot after making the 13th overall pick in round 1.

I really hope that somehow these two players are there with out #1 and #2 picks…Hakeem Nicks, WR, UNC & Alphonso Smith, CB, WF…it is a pipedream for both to be there top 50, but if they are and we land those two with out first two picks, I will be really happy…that answers the true WR and true CB problem and then we can spend the rest of the draft on DL, S, LB depth…

Pretty cool to see we are still taking a chance on Will Billingsley. But Anthony Armstrong hes like every WR on our roster with the exception of London and Ginn sort of. In that hes fast and small but I like to see he’ll be here for mini camp (hopefully).
