Mobile Tuna Boat

Bill Parcells must be loving his job in Miami.  He gets to come and go as he pleases.  He doesn’t make road trips unless he wants to.  He plays golf at his leisure and then when the draft rolls around…he gets to play King Tuna.  Well, apparently Bill loves his job with the Dolphins a whole lot and winning must have bitten him more than he expected.  The Tuna boat is mobile.  Mobile, Alabama that is.

Last season, Bill Parcells opted to stay in Miami and skip the Senior Bowl.  He did the same when he skipped the Combine and instead watched the unfolding on NFL Network and quizzing GM Jeff Ireland on what he saw.  This year, Parcells has packed his suitcases and made the trip to Bama with the rest of the staff.

It was only a day after the Phins were eliminated that BP decided to immediately begin the offseason task of continuing his rebuild of the franchise.  Instead of taking a few days off, he informed owner Wayne Huizenga he needed to get started on next season.  Amid rumors of his inevitable departure with the change of ownership, Parcells informed his boss he was staying…yet rumors persisted.

Parcells has become proactive in this young offseason.  He will scout the seniors, put up with the prospective players agents, the assistant coaches looking for jobs, all of it for the sake of continuing what he started.

The Miami Dolphins finished the season 11-5 and that apparently is not good enough for Parcells, Jeff Ireland, and Tony Sparano.  Showing the fans and the organization that they are not finished, that they will never be finished, this team of do’ers are doing.  Already the team has signed 7 off it’s practice squad.  They signed a free agent safety, and landed the most coveted CFL LB/DE in recent history outbidding 7 other NFL teams and shelling out almost a million guaranteed.

The Senior Bowl allows a good look at the incoming list of NFL draft eligible players minus the 42 underclassmen who have been granted the opportunity to forego their remaining collegiate years.  The Dolphins will have that extra eyes and ears.  Bill Parcells is a great evaluator of talent and he and Jeff Ireland are so much alike that they rarely disagree.  With Ireland looking left, Sparano looking right, the middle will now be watched by the Tuna.

Apparently, the season has already started in full swing…for Bill Parcells it starts without the backswing.
