Some Quick Hits

I got back from vacation on Monday and now am saddled with what appears to be the beginning of Pnemonia or strep throat, so if content lacks over the next day or two…you will know why.  For now I have managed to pull myself out from under 3 blankets to check on…you guessed it…Miami Dolphins news.  So, here are some really “quick hits” on what is going on out there.

First Joe Flacco has won the NFL Rookie of the Year.  Congrats to the kid he and Matt Ryan had excellent years.

Tomorrow Phins HC Tony Sparano will make his appearence in Tampa to receive his NFL Alumni Association Coach of the Year award.  In what could be a very good omen, the trophy will be presented to him by the man who’s name the trophy bares.  Don Shula.

It appears that according to some sources, the Phins will ramp up negotiations with OT Vernon Carey on an extension some time around the Combine if not sooner.  The Phins will need to have a deal in place prior to the start of free agency which begins in just over 27 days.  The Phins also are reportedly looking to bulk up their Oline as well…which makes me wonder with who and from where?

If the news on Carey is good, the news on Crowder is not.  The same sources have heard that Channing is somewhat insulted by the “lowball” offer that the Phins gave him.  Crowder is not viewed as the future for the Dolphins at LB and he apparently values his worth a whole lot more than the Phins.  It will be interested to see what he gets on the FA market if he does in fact get there.  Would it surprise anyone to see him go to New England?

Hall of Fame announcements are due this weekend.  While many will keep their fingers crossed for Kuch, don’t bet on it.

O.k. well that’s it for now, time to go back to bed.
