The Miami Dolphins now have a realized hole to fill. The Denver Post is reporting that the Denver Broncos have signed free agent CB and former Phins Andre’ Goodman. The news for Miami is not good considering that the team may have been hoping that lukewarm interest may have allowed them to sign him cheaper.
Goodman led the Dolphins with 5 interceptions last season and his play was part of the reason that the team succeeded late in the season. Goodman will rejoin Renaldo Hill in the backfield as Hill was signed over the weekend by the Broncos.
Goodman was scheduled to visit the Browns but apparently he didn’t need to. The deal is what Goodman was looking for. 5 years with a potential windfall of 25 million which averages out to 5 mill per year. While it’s unlikely that he will see the full sum of the contract, on paper it’s what the Dolphins wouldn’t give him. 10 million of the deal is guaranteed.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The Phins, according to Chris Mortenson of ESPN called the agent of Laveranues Coles to tell them they had no interest in signing the 31 year old WR. The Phins either have no intentions os signing a WR and will look to the draft or they will wait another year before addressing the situation. ( I still think that Miami trades for Miles Austin).
The Denver Broncos will likely lose WR Brandon Marshall to suspension once again. Marshall was arrested for disorderly conduct stemming from a fight in Atlanta, Ga. He was arrested and released from jail. The troubled WR has been arrested 4 times since March of 2006.
