NE Trades For Lewis...The Other Lewis

UPDATES:  The trade for Lewis will cost the Patriots a 5th round draft pick this year but they will recoup a 2010 conditional draft pick next year.  Not quite sure how that works exactly usually it’s the other way around.  The Patriots have also finalized their deal for Shaun Springs.  Springs is an injury prone corner missing time over the last several years.

Not sure if that title was used by anyone at the Miami Herald, the Providence Rhode Island Journal, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, or anyone else on the entire planet earth.  I do know that it was not used by a possible micro-organism on the planet Mars.  So, with that out of the way the New England Patriots have made a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles for WR Greg Lewis.

Lewis is 29 years old and the compensation is not immediately known.  The Patriots have a need at WR with the departure of Jabar Gaffney.  He will play opposite Randy Moss while Wes Welker continues working in the slot.

The Patriots are also expected to sign CB Shaun Springs according to report from a Providence newspaper.  Springs is in his mid-30’s and will become yet another aging veteran defensemen for the team.  Springs visited the team earlier this week but left without a contract.  “Left without a contract” is used without permission…it has been used repeatedly this week by Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.   (for those wondering, I was accused by one of our readers of plagiarism after titling an article on TO the same as Salguero).
