Ah yes, the Patriots. Is there really any other team in the NFL and especially the AFC East that is watched and scrutinized more closely than the New England Patriots? The Jets? Not even close these days. While the Jets rivalry still boils deeper the laughable wannabe’s can’t hold a candle to the games that the Patriots play. Hell, even the Miami Dolphins very own J-Peezy calls them cheaters.
Alas, I have gotten off track…so easy to do. The Patriots come into the draft with needs at WR, the signing of Joey Galloway hardly constitutes a long term solution opposite the aging but still productive Randy Moss. On the defensive side of the ball, the aging defense is fit with more geriatric jokes than sacks. Something that the Patriots desperately want to fix.
The team needs a defensive lineman because next year they stand to lose to pro-bowl caliber tackles in Richard Seymour and Vince Wilfork who both may seek deals similar to Albert Haynesworth. In addition, the Patriots were one of the worst 3rd down teams last season and will look to add a LB. The team also could use some depth at QB with Tom Brady coming off a devastating knee injury and Matt Cassel traded to KC. The Patriots also will seek a cornerback as well.
NOTE: There will be at least one if not two Polls this weekend. I will wrap up the polls with the 25th pick on Monday and close them all. We will not have time to finish due to myself being out of town 3 days next week. Look for a daily draft preview each day next week.
