There is a reason the option does not work in the NFL. Soon there will be a reason the Wildcat does not work in the NFL. It seemed kind of bush league to start with but I must admit I did love watching Miami stick it to NE. I think Pat White is a good player and probably the ultimate choice for the Wildcat but this fad will end soon in the NFL. Like the old ball coach says show me a team with 2 starting QBs and I will show you a team with none. With the size and speed of the athletes in the NFL a strong arm pocket passer will also be the way to go.

  • Theory killer

Gimmick? No way, more and more teams are moving towards it do to the many options you have. I will say that you do need the right personel and not all teams have that. I do know of one team that does and that is the MIAMI DOLPHINS. Pat White prove these critics wrong.

Theory:  While I do agree that more teams will be running the WC I still do not see it as a real base package to any offense but instead an extension of it.  The problem to me with the WC is that while it opens up the offense to some degree it also takes away from other options.  The fact that unless White is always involved in the base offense then the Dolphins will be swapping personnel on the field to run it.  There is a limit to how you do that and how often you can get away with it.

I think it is a gimmick and whether it’s here to stay or not, the Phins need to realize that if they want to succeed they are going to need to build an offense and not a gimmick.  To me this all sounds a lot like trying to compete now as opposed to actually building a highly productive offensive product.

Brian:  Take a good look at Pat White’s records !!!  He is more than just a wildcat insert.  He can really throw the ball, run as a RB, and receive the ball as WR/Slot receiver or as a RB out of the backfield . We will now have a legitimate QB draw or running play with an option.  He is IMO a much better pick than Harvin.   White gives the Dolphins OC a lot of options and the opponent’s defense a lot of headaches.   I’m excited to see him in this season’s offense.

Sam:  I’m not dissappointed we didn’t get Harvin…didn’t want him.  I want to see how they plan on using PW outside of the WC, to me that is how he will be judged.

  • Samdolphin

Brian:  I think they will list Pat White as a QB,RB and as a WR.  The WR list I was following showed PW as the No. 8th WR right after Hakeem Nicks.  I think PW will share QB duties with CP or CH this year.  If PW does share a series in a game then defenses won’t know when he will run the WC or a normal passing play?   He certainly will impose a QB running play or Draw play while he is running his series.  I think the Dolphins will be very exciting to watch this year.

is the repetitive “N” word in the you tube song necessary?

  • Pat white fan for life

well honestly i have been a wvu fan all my life so i have seen pat white in person many times you people that sais that he will be a wr is plainly idiotic because he can throw the ball witch people say he cant but that is just because he hasnt had many oppurtunities at it he can run he is perfect for the wildcat which is similar to his alma mater’s offense if u seen wvu vs unc that gives all the answers for miami.

It is exciting to watch him running and making tacklers miss him. He will add a lot of explosiveness to the offense with more points on the board.
