O.k. he hasn’t technically signed but he did agree to terms on his rookie contract last night with the Miami Dolphins. According to the Sun-Sentinel, Andrew Gardner will sign a 4 year deal worth roughly 1.6 million. Not a bad haul for a 6th round draft pick.
There is little to no guarantee with rookie contracts that fall on late day 2 of the draft so Gardner may never see the money that was floated in front of him. The signing bonus was not immediately known but likely will be lower than 100K or right around that amount.
Gardner, a 4 year starter at Georgia Tech has a playing weight of 305 and should find that this coaching staff loves gems found in late rounds. Donald Thomas was a late draft find on the Oline last year but has yet to remain healthy.
Gardner doesn’t come unscathed however. He missed the final 4 games for the Yellow Jackets after tearing his Labrum and having surgery. Gardner is also only the 2nd Dolphins drafted rookie to sign joining 5th rounder John Nalbone of Monmouth who signed before the start of OTA’s.
