Like it or not the Chad Henne era is here. ESPN’s Chris Mortenson is reporting Chad Pennington is out for the season with a torn capsule in his shoulder. We’ll update with more information on the injury as it becomes available but you can’t help but feel for Pennington, ironically last year’s comeback player of the year.
Miami will have to make due with quarterbacks Chad Henne and Pat White. It remains to be seen whether or not they’ll bring in another veteran for depth. I would imagine they would just go with Henne from here on out.
Chad Pennington was a great addition to the Dolphins last season and was instrumental in bringing Miami back to respectability last year. The leadership he’s provided and will undoubtedly continue to provide has been invaluable to the team. His contract is up this year and it remains to be seen if he will ever play again. I, for one, hope that’s not the case. But if it is he’d make a phenomenal addition to our coaching staff. It’s a sad day for Chad Pennington but I’m incredibly thankful for everything he’s done for the organization so far and I hope he has a speedy recovery.
