To me, more insulting than the loss yesterday to the Buffalo Bills was Steve Tasker’s comments as Rian Lindell put the final extra point of the game through the up-rights. “The Dolphins came in and got way-layed by the Bills.” Ignoring for a second how aggravating it is to listen to an ex-player give commentary on a game involving his former team (especially a rival team like the Bills), Tasker’s comment was insulting because it’s indicative of what the national perception of this game will undoubtedly be.
Think about it, outside of Florida markets, the rest of the country saw either [...]

Dolphins Get Playoff Reprieve
UPDATE: The Steelers overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens has put the AFC WildCard chase into a 7 team race with only 1 game separating Miami and the leaders for the 2nd WC spot. The Denver Broncos still maintain a 2 game lead over the Phins for the 1st WC spot.
The Miami Dolphins are flying home from Buffalo and if they haven’t landed yet, they probably can’t wait to get home, turn off the TV and drink. A lot. There won’t be any Southbeach parties, no dinners with teammates, nothing. They will be back to work tomorrow to look at [...]
The Miami Dolphins controlled their destiny heading into their game against the Buffalo Bills. Early on, it looked as though they would walk away with a yawner and a showdown against the Patriots a week away. By the 4th quarter, the Phins were playing for their lives and by the 3 minute mark, they were playing for pride and nothing more.
The game, trapped, the season, lost. The New England game…meaningless.
It wasn’t enough that the Dolphins who had 6 sacks on Ryan Fitzpatrick, couldn’t put up more than 14 points, the team gave up 31 points to a Bills team that [...]
Beware Of The Trap
Trap? Is it? The game against the Buffalo Bills that is. Is this the Miami Dolphins game that stands to be overlooked with the New England Patriots a week away? We will see but one thing is for sure, these Dolphins better not think anything close to it or they will find themselves simply playing New England for pride and nothing more.
The Dolphins are heading north on Sunday to face a Bills team that they basically obliterated earlier in the season. Sitting at .500 on the year and two games out of a first place tie, the Phins could head [...]
Two weekends ago I was playing around in Miami for the Miami Dolphins yearly Web Weekend event. It is always great to see all the reps from the other Phins sites. (visit them all by going to our links page. They are the 5 star web sites). The last two years my brother Jim, who you all know is in Iraq has been at these events and this year of course he missed out. So, leave it to “Short” Michelle of 2Michelles.com to make sure that Jim wasn’t left out.
Michelle took the camcorder and got behind it to film the [...]
Today the Miami Dolphins pulled off a shocking surprise. They released veteran LB Matt Roth. The team has yet to explain why but Roth had been at the center of a mystery injury that began the eve of training camp. He was placed on the non-football injury list and was activated a few weeks ago. In his 4 games he has done little to stand out but the fact that the Dolphins had enough will send a clear message to current and future players. These Dolphins don’t play games.
This core of Miami Dolphins managers and coaches started last season by [...]
Ferguson Officially Placed On IR
So the Miami Dolphins finally confirmed what everyone knew. Jason Ferguson is done for the year and his newly annointed status on the team all-star list known as the team IR list may very well have played his last game, snap, and whistle in his 13 year career. The only thing that was surprising of this news was the fact that Ferguson is out due to a torn quad and not the knee injury that was originally reported.
The news comes almost 4 days after the Phins beat the Carolina Panthers to get back to .500 on the season. The Phins [...]
The Miami Dolphins have not officially placed NT Jason Ferguson on IR…yet. The 34 year old star of Miami’s vaunted defensive line has suffered a knee injury that will likely sideline him for the remainder of the season, and possibly shelve his 13 year career. Ferguson was one of many Dolphins who went down with injury in Thursdays game against the Panthers.
Also ailing are center Jake Grove with a high ankle sprain, guard Justin Smiley, Nate Garner, and back-up center Joe Berger. The focus for now is on Ferguson who if in fact does end up on IR will be [...]
Ah, the city that never sleeps. Mainly because Jets fans and Rex Ryan are too busy crawling streets at night whining in the gutters. Sorry, no offense to any homeless person intended. There are only a few things in this world that truly suck when it comes right down to it. Being a Jets fan obviously is one of those. Being a Dolphins fan living in New York or New England country are the others. While there is not help yet for the New Englanders, support has arrived in a big way for you New Yorkers. It’s in the form [...]
The Question of Ronnie Brown
This is going to be debated for the next few months so I figured I may as well kick off the discussion right here and now while we have a full ten days to kick it around… What are the Miami Dolphins going to do about Ronnie Brown?
Ronnie Brown has played his last snap for the Dolphins under his current contract now that he has been placed on IR and his season is over. Today Brown underwent surgery on his foot in Charlotte. Over the course of his career Ronnie has played five seasons (that actually surprised me, I could’ve [...]
Thoughts From the Morning After
Funny what a week can do. Just last Saturday the Miami Dolphins were 3-5 and beginning to lose relevance. Now six days later they find themselves at 5-5, .500 for the first time since week one and a team still very much in the hunt for a playoff spot. Last night Miami pulled off a solid win on the road against the Carolina Panthers on the legs of Ricky Williams. Here are a few observations…
Ricky Williams
Imagine around 2004 when Miami was mostly cursing at Ricky for bailing on the Dolphins just days before the season, trying to tell any [...]
Phins Find Way Back To .500
The Miami Dolphins barely escaped last weekend with a victory. Facing the top running team in the NFL on 5 days rest, the Phins were going to have their hands full. While the team still couldn’t put the Panthers away when leading 14-3, they held on to a victory that brings them to .500 and keeps their hopes alive for a playoff spot.
Tonights hero was by far Ricky Williams who scored 3 times and busted his final score for over 40 yards when the game was down to 3 points. While Ricky was the Phins scoring monster, the offensive line [...]
UPDATE: I will be in the live chat tonight. Hope you can join us.
For those of you who don’t know, I am one of a lucky 70 who gets invited once a year to Miami as part of the Web Weekend contingent. Basically, it’s something that the Miami Dolphins and only the Dolphins do to recognize webmasters who cover the team. This year, 23 sites invited to the festivities that started with a dinner at Bokampers Restaurant (former Dolphins great Kim Bokamper) in Plantation, a stadium tour on Saturday, a training facility tour and dinner on Saturday night, and “Club [...]
Ronnie Brown Placed On IR
The Miami Dolphins’ Ronnie Brown is done for the year with a non-specified foot injury. Brown injured the foot in the 3rd quarter of Sunday’s win over the Buc’s. Brown was the Dolphins main man when it came to running the WC offense. Ricky Williams was set to take over this week against the Carolina Panthers but will now shoulder the load until the Phins, already down one RB (Patrick Cobbs), finds another one on the street list.
The Phins failed to act early in nabbing street free agent and troubled RB Larry Johnson who signed with the Bengals yesterday. Johnson, [...]
