Ted Ginn Wins Special Teams Honors

This weeks performance by often ripped Ted Ginn, Jr. has netted him his first deserving NFL award as he was named AFC Special Teams player of the week for his two 100 yard returns. Setting an NFL record as the first man to ever have two 100+ yard kick returns in one game. His came only 7 minutes apart and were back to back in the 3rd quarter. I am a hard critic on Ted Ginn, probably one of the most critical and that includes mainstream media, but I will offer a bit of an apology to him.

After watching the replay of Sunday’s game on NFL Network, I take back and apologize for my comments regarding him “simply running for the sidelines”. He wasn’t. While I’m not sold that he was a “mouse in a corner who got created”, his bounce to the outside and turn up field came a lot quicker than I thought.

His burst of speed was incredible especially while outrunning a defender who appeared to have a perfect angle. The second run back was all Ted Ginn. I originally thought he was avoiding a hit, and again, I won’t say that he got creative on that play but simply found a seam. It was very nice run and I obviously didn’t give him enough credit for that.

Ted Ginn is the subject of many arguments, and on Tuesday nights Finsradio.net broadcast of “On The Fin Side”, I didn’t bother to back off my opinion. Still, Ted Ginn had a great game as a returner and the compliments for “that games” performance is well deserved. Congratulations on ST Player of the Week Ted!
