I was talking with one of my students today that plays HS football. I wsa telling him about the basketball strike from the 90s. There were two sides to the strike among the players. One side wanted to continue the strike and one side wanted to stop it. The issue with the ones that wanted to end the strike was leverage. They were leveraged out and broke. While they were making big salaries, their overhead was huge as well. Many were supporting numerous family members, crew members, and baby momma's.

The football players better realize that time is short. Many will be broke anyway within several years of leaving the game. If they screw this up and there is a lockout in 2011 or earlier/later there will be a lot of money lost.
