Coming In Days: The New Phinphanatic.com Re-design

AUTHOR: Brian Miller | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It’s almost here.  Days instead of weeks.  Our site will undergoe a brand new re-design that will restructure the way the content is displayed and where some of the links are found as well.  We hope you like it when you see it.
The content will still be the same but how it’s displayed may change a bit.  Honestly, I’m only speculating as I haven’t seen the final product or any other product for that matter.  In fact, chances are some of you will see it before me because inevitably it will happen while I’m not at home.
Make sure that you [...]

CBA Negotiations Over Lunch

AUTHOR: Brian Miller | IN: NFL, News | COMMENTS: None Yet

How much does the NFL adore their fans?  Well, if you listen to the players and the owners, they love ‘em a lot.  But that apparently don’t love or respect fans as much as they would outwardly say.  I mean, how much can you “love” your fans when you can only free yourself for one hour of CBA negotiations?  One hour?  That’s a lunch break.
NFL teams will often go out of their way to make their players accessible and give out perks of some kind to their fans for their “die-hard support“.  The Miami Dolphins are one of a few [...]

Rumors Start To Fly: Dansby To Miami?

AUTHOR: Brian Miller | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Miami Dolphins are only 9 days away from the start of free agency and the rumors are starting to fly around.  Forget about the impending departure of one Joey Porter, his release is all but official.  The real stories that are starting to circulate surround much juicier fodder.
The latest apple comes VIA Profootballtalk.com which is via former Dolphin local beat writer Greg Bedard.  According to Bedard, the Dolphins not only want Arizona LB Karlos Dansby, but are willing to “pay” him to get him in aqua and orange.  Gets your juices flowing a bit doesn’t it?
Of course the chances [...]

Top Story: Westbrook Released & More

AUTHOR: Brian Miller | IN: Breaking News, Dolphins, Draft, Fantasy Football, NFL, News, Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: None Yet

Today’s top NFL story is the fate of Philadelphia Eagles grind it out scoring monster, RB Brian Westbrook.  The Eagles parted ways with the stud after an injury plagued 2009 made him expendable.
Westbrook, when healthy, was a dominant force on the Eagles offense and one of the best fantasy football runners in the game.  Still, Westbrook had struggled with injuries on and off for the last few years and 2009 was finally that straw that broke the back.
Only a few days ago, San Diego released another fan favorite in LaDaianian Tomlinson which now puts two of the top runners over [...]

It is Great to Have Ricky Williams

AUTHOR: AJ Minichino | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

With LaDaninian Tomlinson being released by the San Diego Charges after 9 years with the team it got me thinking how great it is to see Ricky Williams still being able to run hard. Nowadays when running backs reach the 30 year old plateau it seems like their careers are downhill or maybe even over. Many people believe that LaDaninian won’t find a team soon and some say that he won’t find a team unless there is an injury to the running back position. Then there is Ricky, who claims this is his last year in the league, who [...]

2010 NFL Free Agents

AUTHOR: Brian Miller | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: None Yet

The NFL will open it’s league new year on March 5th and will do so without a Collective Bargaining Agreement.  Which means that the free agent market will lack the 4 and 5 year players.
The NFL released a list of all the players slated to be FA’s come next month but it should be noted that IF, and that is a monumental “IF”, the NFL and the NFLPA figure out a way to institute a cap…insert personal ’snicker’ here…then this list will change.  In addition, it also will not include the veteran players who have their contracts terminated.  Like Joey [...]

Top Story: Wilfork Tagged…So What!

AUTHOR: Brian Miller | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Breaking News:  LaDaianian Tomlinson has officially been released by the San Diego Chargers after 9 seasons with the team.  The move was expected.
The New England Patriots put the good old franchise tag on DT Vince Wilfork today ending any hopes of Miami Dolphins fans that the “Tuna” and his team could poach the big NT.
So what!
Sure, Wilfork would have been a nice addition to the teams defensive line but did anyone really believe that he would end up in Miami? There was no way that was going to happen. Why? For one, Bill Belichick was going to [...]

Top Story: Will Allen Arrested

AUTHOR: Brian Miller | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: None Yet

Miami Dolphins CB Will Allen was arrested on Saturday following a roadblock established for a DUI checkpoint. Allen’s blood-alc level was twice the legal limit of .08.
Allen was stopped at the sobriety checkpoint and was asked several times by officers to get out of the car before finally opening his door. He repeatedly told officers that he “needed to get through”.
Allen recently stated that he would be the Dolphins starting CB again this season and would beat out Vontae’ Davis for the job. Now, it’s likely that Allen will open the season on some kind [...]

Quick Shot Breaking News: Dansby and Cromartie

AUTHOR: Brian Miller | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

The Arizona Cardinals have informed LB Karlos Dansby they will not franchise him but instead will try and re-sign him after the start of free agency. Dansby, a Miami Dolphins fan favorite to land in Miami will be the highest profile FA on the market and a bidding war is expected. That takes Miami out of the picture.
The San Diego Chargers are shopping CB Antonio Cromartie for a RB. The Dolphins will not likely be interested in Cromartie with the additions of Sean Smith and Vontae’ Davis last year but they may talk about moving a RB [...]

Fins Short On Draft Picks

AUTHOR: Brian Miller | IN: Dolphins, Draft | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

The NFL Combine will begin later next week and the draft is still a tortoise crawl away while free agency along with it’s uncapped season and impending Joey Porter release is still just over 2 weeks away.  For the Dolphins however, the behind the scenes antics are likely already moving gears.  See, the Dolphins only have 9 draft picks this year and while that is the same number they had last season, 5 of those picks come after the 4th round…in fact, all 5 are after the 5th round.  That isn’t enough…not for Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland.  The Phins [...]

Breaking News: SirVincent Rogers Returns

AUTHOR: Brian Miller | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: None Yet

Last year undrafted free agent OT SirVincent Rogers took a walk at practice, as in right out of the complex. He quit during last years training camp. Yesterday, the Dolphins re-signed him.
This will also be a new feature on our site. Quick hit breaking news as we edge closer to the start of FA.

Zach Thomas Set To Call It A Career

AUTHOR: Brian Miller | IN: Breaking News, Dolphins | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

The Miami Dolphins management is trying to decide on what to do with Jason Taylorwho is a free agent of rejoining the Phins the past season.  The other Miami Dolphins stalwart from the past decade who left Miami 2 seasons ago is ready to call it a career.  The question is will he do it as a Miami Dolphin?
Zach Thomas has had enough.  Concussion after concussion has cost him the latter seasons of an otherwise brilliant career.  A short stay in Dallas two seasons ago gave way to a quicker stint in KC where after sustaining his last concussion sent [...]

Dancing Around Dansby

AUTHOR: Brian Miller | IN: Dolphins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The fans of the Miami Dolphins are getting giddy like a 5 year old a week or two away from Christmas.  They lay in bed, close their eyes, and have visions of Karlos Dansby dancing in their head.  While Christmas for a 5 year old is rarely a let down, for Dolphins fans, the Dansby dance will be.
“To be wanted, to have a team that really needs me and wants me there in the organization — that’s my biggest thing right now for this offseason,” Dansby told Miami radio station WQAM. “A team to step up to the plate and [...]

Analysis

1.

Sam Bradford

QB
Oklahoma

The Rams need many fixes and while Suh may be the surest pick for them here I don’t see the Rams forking out the reported $8.5m Bulger is due in 2010. Originally I had Clausen as the pick but reports are the Rams like Bradford and if they feel his shoulder will be fine they are leaning towards him with their pick.

2.

Ndamukong Suh
DT
Nebraska

Although I wouldn’t rule out Okung with this pick what Suh can give them on the defensive side of the ball is going to be hard to pass up. Not much you can say [...]
