The Miami Dolphins are only 9 days away from the start of free agency and the rumors are starting to fly around. Forget about the impending departure of one Joey Porter, his release is all but official. The real stories that are starting to circulate surround much juicier fodder.
The latest apple comes VIA Profootballtalk.com which is via former Dolphin local beat writer Greg Bedard. According to Bedard, the Dolphins not only want Arizona LB Karlos Dansby, but are willing to “pay” him to get him in aqua and orange. Gets your juices flowing a bit doesn’t it?
Of course the chances are still slim but at this time of year, any rumor is fun to talk about. Over at Finheaven.com their latest rumor squack surround a deal for Detroit Lion DE/OLB Cliff Avril. A 3rd round former selection out of Purdue.
The rumors won’t stop anytime soon and should pick up the closer FA gets. With the NFL and NFLPA still tossing back possible deals to get a cap in place for this year, the number of prospective free agents could climb. If that happens, the rumor mill may explode.
The Dolphins are dealing with a few of their own free agents, specifically Jason Taylor and Chad Pennington. But as the Sun-Sentinel points out in today’s online edition, the future of Nate Jones is the real mystery.
Jones has been a solid special teams player and his play as a nickel back has been solid as well. The Dolphins would do well for themselves to re-sign him.
