The Miami Dolphins announced today that they will be adding two new names to their Honor Roll during half-time of their Thursday night match-up against the Chicago Bears in November. Those players are, Bill Stanfill and Jake Scott, anchors of the infamous “No-Name Defense”.
Jake Scott has been a fan favorite since the day he was drafted and after a long fight with Don Shula, and a dedication to stay away from the team because of it, Jake Scott will take a long over-due spot on the Dolphins Honor Roll.
Joining the Super Bowl VII MVP and current Dolphins INT leader with 35, will be his college roommate and one of his best friends, Bill Stanfill. Stanfill was an anchor for the No-Name defense and contributed 67 unofficial sacks in his career. It’s fitting that the two join the honor roll together.
In other news, Ricky Williams was named the winner of the Dan Marino MVP Award for the 2009 season. Williams amassed over 1,000 yards last year, becoming the first player to do so with a gap of 6 years between “K” seasons.
