Writer's Contest Is Now Over

We have been running a 2 week contest to find 3 new staff writers for our site.  We received well over 40 submissions and I selected 21 to present on the site for you to read, critique, vote on, comment on, and simply judge in your own mind.   Yesterday we ran our final submission and now we, the staff and myself, will look at everything you have said and find 3 new writers.

I have been asked about the process itself in terms of how I will find the new staff.  Your votes will play a part in that process of course.  So will how a writer presented his point of view, how he/she handled criticism or low voting, as well as how the writer embraced the subject he chose.

What will not go into the process will be the topic the writer chose to submitt.  I am more interested in how they approached their topic of choice.

I want to personally thank all of you for taking the time to comment, read, and vote on all of the submissions we received and posted.   It’s a testament to your opinions of this site and the writers who staff it.  Let’s face it, without any of you, there really is no point in having a site.

So what is to come?  Well for starters, the new writers who are added will be assigned elements of the team.  For example, to better enhance our coverage of the team, one writer will exclusively handle the offensive side of the ball.  Another the defensive side of the ball, and a third will handle special team.

I am currently debating on whether or not to add a team management/coaching writer who can cover the philosphies of the team and the coaching changes, etc..  Perhaps later.

In addition to all of the above, I will also announce on Friday a 4th writer who will be joining our staff in a special capacity that I am actually really excited about.

Join us back here on Friday afternoon (unless I have been unable to contact all the winners) for our final announcements and introductions of our new staff.

Thanks again to all of you for your interest in writing for us, and of course your patronage!  It’s why we do this!

Brian Miller and the Phinphanatic.com staff.
