Quick Note

A week ago I was in Miami for the first pre-season football game of the season. Fast forward a week later and I am home, albeit uncomfortably…so to speak.
A great week ended with the realization that my house was hit by lightning and that many of my electronic devices no longer work. That included both my computer and monitor, not to mention my modem as well.
So…to make a long story short, I have a new CPU, monitor, and modem, but have yet to get caught up on the news from Miami. That will happen sooner rather than later.
Just wanted to keep all of you in the loop so you know why content has been riding on the shoulders of others for the past week.

They have surge protectors at office depot that are guaranteed to keep your equipment safe. I suggest you invest the hundred and a half and safeguard your stuff and time!!

That was the funny thing. I had the surge suppressor off and nothing was damaged. I actually unplugged the computer, the modem, the monitor from the wall. so their was no electrical current going to anything. What I didn’t do was disconnect the coax cable from the modem so when the outside junction box got hit, the electricity shot through the coax into the modem, from the modem it went into the cpu via the ethernet cable which then went to the monitor through the usb cable. My ethernet cable was charred pretty good.

I have a surge suppressor but unplugged it from the wall when I left so that nothing was connected to the electric in the house. It’s also funny that my TV and everything else works fine, just anything connected to the cable modem.
