Today, more than 640 players in the NFL will be out of a job and President Barrack Obama will blame it on George Bush. O.k. just kidding. Maybe.
In all seriousness, today is “C-Day” or cut day when the NFL pares down to it’s final 53 man rosters. The Miami Dolphins have 20 players that they need to get rid of which will not be easy in some cases. Do you keep Jake Grove? Will Allen? or take a flyer on Roberto Wallace? Some names like WR Pruitt are the easy choices, others like Micah Johnson who has played very well, is not. (Johnson will make the roster).
The point is that as today progresses, there may be a trade or two and some names will hit the market that will open some eyes. Phin fans will start yelling “we have to get that guy” at the same time fans from 30 other teams will. It’s a day that all of the hard work and practice over the last month either pays off, or pays out. Then, tomorrow those released will sit by their phones and wait to hear if they made the practice squad or asked to hop a plane to another team.
NFL teams start to prep for their week 1 games that begin this coming Thursday. It’s for real now. And you don’t have to look any further than the names of those don’t make the cut to realize that it is in fact, back to business.
Keep your refresh button busy today as we keep you updated on all the cuts for the Miami Dolphins and the more surprising cuts around the league. By the way, I am still predicting that one of Miami’s QB’s is traded today. I’m guessing Tyler Thigpen.
