Dolphins Cut David Martin

The first “real” surprise has come at the 3:40 mark as it is being reported that TE David Martin has been released.  The news is surprising given the recent injury termination of Joey Haynos and the relatively non-showing of John Nalbone.  It was widely speculated that Nalbone would be released.  And he still may.

It is an assumption that the Dolphins are scouring the waiver wire for additional players so perhaps they may have someone in mind to add at that position.

Martin was brought in shortly after training camp had started to compete for a spot along with Anthony Fasano and Joey Haynos.  It had been speculated that the Phins would carry 3 TE’s until Haynos was released.  Apparently that is not the case.  It appears the Dolphins will either look elsewhere or are confident in the youngster, Nalbone.

Another possibility is the guaranteed contract of David Martin.  If the Dolphins wait until after week 1, his contract for the season will not be guaranteed.

WR Julius Pruitt has also been released.

Whew, some solid names out there. Becht out of Arizona at TE and Jarvis Green at DE would be solid. I would also like to pick up Stefan Logan to return kicks.
