Pat White Released

So much for my Tyler Thigpen trade scenario.  The Dolphins have ended the tenure of West Virginia QB Pat White today by releasing last years early 2nd round pick.

Pat White did not complete a pass in his short time on the field last season and played sparingly in this years pre-season games.

The releases does not come as a surprise.

With this release, the Dolphins have now cut ties with 2nd round pick Pat White and 3rd round pick Patrick Turner.  They are also expected to release 5th round pick John Nalbone as well.  All of these picks were made in last years draft.  Earlier they parted ways with 2008 7th round pick Donald Thomas.

Pat will likely end up in Winnipeg in the Canadian league. He’s well suited to the style of football up there and their 1st string QB, Buck Pierce, (New Mexico State) broke his elbow this weekend and is done for the year. Former Purdue star Joey Elliot and former Houston Texan Alex Brink are currently the backups, but with Pat’s upside, the Blue Bombers will likely trot him into camp. Winnipeg is currently dead last in the Canadian League standing at 2-7 and desperately need something to ignite the franchise.
